Europe Part V | Venice, Italy

In July I vacationed in Italy to celebrate my 5 year wedding anniversary (and England, and France). Here you can find Part I (Positano) Part II (Rome) Part III (Florence) and Part IV (Chianti). Venice was our last city in Italy to visit before heading to England.
Venice was magic. It is a city on water, and it just defies logic. We loved getting lost and trying to find our way back, enjoying a spritz in the afternoon, and eating gelato every day. There are no cars or roads, just canals, boats, water, and small streets for walking that lead out to courtyards in main areas of the city.
One of my favorite museums of the entire trip was the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. A modern art museum along the grand canal, mostly displaying the personal art collection of Peggy Guggenheim in her home. I loved walking through the beautiful property along the grand canal, and experiencing the art work. They have photographs in each room of what the room looked like before it was transformed into a museum, that just captivated my imagination. It is incredible. I do not have pictures to share from that visit, I chose to just experience it. But of course I am happy to share my travel tips here.
Our favorite meal in Venice (and top 3 of our entire trip), was at La Zucca. You need to make a reservation in advance or you won’t be able to eat here. The lasagne was the best I’ve ever had in my life. If you are in Venice, this is a must eat at place!
The apartment we stayed at had a private rooftop terrace, we drank espresso every morning out there.
Oh yes, we totally rode in a gondola! And the gondolier insisted on taking our picture. I didn't think he'd be able to because very rarely can the average person just pick up my camera and snap an in focus picture. He got really into it and told us to kiss, it was so cheesy and funny! When I got my camera back and looked at them he saw how excited I was that the picture was good (in focus!), and he said to me that he does this for everyone and everyone has a different camera, so he's familiar with it. Perspective my friends!
